What is wrong with my Ipod?

I have an I pod Nano 6th generation 16kb.Every time I put it into my Bose docking station to listen to it ,it will play one random song and then the same 5 songs. I have to take it off the station, put it back to playlists, push the playlist that I want then we are back to the same thing. I returned the docking station thinking it was the player and it did the same thing. What is wrong with my I pod?

    try with a different ipod, if the prob is with the ipod just restore it using itunes, if still has same prob then format it like you would a flash disk...if it still gives you troubles, consider getting a new ipod as ipods are cheap on ebay...
