The rate of a reaction will continuously increase with the addition of increasing amounts of solute?

True

OR

False

And why?

Thank you

  • False - the rate of reaction may increase with increasing solute up to a point, and after that the solute overwhelms the amount of solution (the ratio is too large to have an increase on reaction rate). Also if the level of solute is already at that "threshold level" then adding more will not increase the reaction rate - adding a catalyst can increase the reaction rate in that case.
